Eid ul Fitr is expected to be on either Tuesday 30th of August or on Wednesday 31st of August. These dates are not confirmed. Please revisit us again this evening after 6 PM GMT for an official announcement for when Eid will be.
Eid ul Fitr will only be determined after the sighting of the New Moon, so please revisit us again this evening.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), taught us to sight the crescent moon (Hilal) which marks the beginning of the month and the start of Eid ul-Fitr. Muslims follow the Islamic Lunar Calendar to determine such events.
There are a lot of websites declaring the date for Eid ul-Fitr already based on calculations and estimates. This leads people onto believe the date for Eid ul-Fitr has been confrmed when it is not the case. A lot of people are forgetting the tradition and Sunnah taught by our prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Yes we can calculate such events to give us an idea, but we should not write it in stone before it is actually confirmed. We still need to follow the Quran and Sunnah, the tradition our beloved prophet (pbuh) taught us. To sight the moon before declaring Eid ul-Fitr.
